Rooted in the Vale since 1867.

Built on two practices founded in 1867 and 1897, Vale Solicitors are solicitors, advocates and mediators with offices in Barry and Llantwit Major.

We are friendly and approachable. We are clear about our fee structure and, where possible, agree a fixed fee for your matter before we start on your case.

Our offices are in Barry and Llantwit Major in the Vale of Glamorgan, and we also arrange appointments in your own home or place of work.

We are committed to providing a professional, efficient and courteous service to all our clients, and we prefer to resolve disputes by negotiation and mediation, with court as a last resort.

Our history

Two Victorian practices, one modern firm.

Vale Solicitors brings together two long-established firms of solicitors. The names have changed; the commitment to local people and local businesses has not.

  1. 1867

    Gwyn and Gwyn is established

    The older of the two founding practices.

  2. 1897

    Myer Cohen & Co is established

    The second of the two founding practices.

  3. The merger

    Gwyn and Gwyn and Myer Cohen & Co merge

    The two practices come together to form Vale Solicitors.

  4. Today

    Vale Solicitors, Barry and Llantwit Major

    Solicitors, advocates and accredited mediators at 102 High Street, Barry and 1 Boverton Road, Llantwit Major, regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (No. 463355).
